Stratford Square Mall Closes on April 21, 2024

Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale, IL, opened in 1981 and has since become a prominent shopping hub in West Chicago, with stores like Sears, JCPenney, and Marshall Fields.

Despite changes in ownership and retail trends, it remains a significant destination for shopping and entertainment in the area until after the pandemic, when it can no longer sustain itself.

Bloomingdale City settled a lawsuit against Namdar Realty Group, which owns the interior portion of the mall. The city has been buying portions of the mall complex and gained complete control of Stratford Square Mall in January 2024.
