Manila Zoo Chicagoland 2023: Celebrating AAPI Culture
Manila Zoo Chicagoland is an annual cultural event from Project Barkada’s initiative. Originating from successful local markets, it first launched in 2021 in Queens, New York, attracting 5,000 attendees.
Manila Zoo Chicagoland debuted in Chicago the following year, drawing 9,000 attendees over two days, where it celebrated AAPI culture through food, art, and entertainment.
Project Barkada’s evolution reflects its dedication to uniting the AAPI community and showcasing emerging talents, and the event embodies cultural appreciation and collaboration, aligning with Project Barkada’s mission.
In just three years, Project Barkada has ignited a cultural phenomenon with Manila Zoo and has evolved into a celebration of Asian-Filipinx culture.
